Learn how to create a Lighter Than Air vehicle with the Kraul Solar Airship kit. This STEM science kit includes a recyclable black plastic airship tube (3 x 1m) and string.

When the black plastic bag is filled with air, solar energy heats the air inside the bag, making it less dense than the surrounding air and causing it to rise upwards. The difference in density is a force known as buoyancy, and counteracts the weight of the object – in this case, the airship envelope. 

This Airship Kit will be enjoyed by children exploring the trajectory schema, developing an understanding of cause-and-effect relationships by learning about how objects and themselves move.
