About the Artist – Sibylle von Olfers

Sibylle von Olfers (1881–1916) was a German illustrator, author, and art teacher whose stories have touched generations. Her most beloved tale, The Story of the Root Children, was originally written and illustrated for her younger sister in 1906. Her work reflects a deep connection to nature, spirituality, and the innocence of childhood, often expressed in the flowing lines and soft colours of the art nouveau movement.

Through her timeless illustrations, Sibylle invites us to celebrate the quiet beauty of the natural world, the changing seasons, the warmth of community, and the simple joy of light and growth.
