In 2025, we welcome the next chapter in the BLACKENED cigar story, the Drew Estate Blackened S84 Shade to Black Robusto. Where the original M81 brought dark intensity, the S84 steps in with a smoother, creamier twist and it’s set to make just as big a splash with UK cigar lovers. 
Once again, this cigar is the result of the powerful collaboration between James Hetfield of Metallica, Rob Dietrich, Master Distiller of BLACKENED American Whiskey, and Jonathan Drew of Drew Estate. Following the success of the M81, the trio set out to create something fresh, a blend that carried the BLACKENED signature but opened the door to a broader, more subtle flavour experience. 
The S84 name pays tribute to Metallica’s sophomore album, Ride the Lightning, released in 1984, a nod to evolution, growth, and raw energy refined into something masterful. This Robusto features a silky Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro binder, with the familiar bold filler combination of Nicaraguan Maduro and Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro at its heart. The result is a medium bodied cigar that partners smoothness with depth, delivering flavour without overpowering strength.
